Plano ISD canceled all afternoon and evening activities today due to forecasted severe weather, including thunderstorms with the potential for damaging winds and large hail. As a result, the Senior Awards Ceremony that was originally scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. was called off.
The Senior Awards Ceremony is a longstanding milestone event that highlights the accomplishments of selected graduating seniors and serves as a formal acknowledgment of their hard work throughout high school. Among its most notable benefits, as per tradition, is the recognition of the class valedictorian and salutatorian.
School officials announced that this year’s graduating class valedictorian is Haosu Zhu and Vedant Sundar is salutatorian. Both students represent the highest levels of academic achievement for the 2025-2026 graduating class.
The ceremony, which recognizes students for academic excellence and achievements across a range of disciplines, will not be rescheduled due to an already full calendar of spring events. In place of the ceremony, students selected for recognition will receive certificates from teachers in the respective subject areas in which the honors were earned.
