NFC Championship

The San Francisco 49ers, behind the arm of Colin Kaepernick, have advanced to the Super Bowl for the sixth time in franchise history. The 49ers defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 28-24, after the Falcons started the game on a 17-0 run. Kaepernick finished with 233 passing yards and one touchdown while 49ers running back Frank Gore finished with 90 yards and two touchdowns. Anyone who watched the game will tell you that the offense of the 49ers won them the game, not the defense. An early injury to Falcons running back Michael Turner forced Atlanta to use Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling more than their star running back. Kaepernick, a second-year player out of Nevada, only ran the football himself twice, even though last week he set a new quarterback record for most rushing yards in a playoff game. The 49ers have played in five Super Bowls, but have never lost. Coach Jim Harbaugh hopes that his brother, John, won’t spoil the streak.
