The softball team heads into their final game clinging on to fourth place in district and with playoff hopes in their hand. After a 16-13 loss in extra innings against Allen on Tuesday night, their record drops to 7-6 while Allen is chasing them for the final spot. They made a four-run comeback in the bottom of the seventh to keep the game going, but fell up short as Allen’s bats came alive.

Tonight’s game will feature rival, Plano Senior, as they are at the top of the district with a 12-1 record. In order to clinch a playoff spot, the Panthers need a win. If they lose, a close eye will be kept on the Wylie vs. Allen game, because if Allen wins they will capture fourth place due to the fact that they hold the tiebreaker between the two. It’s a big night in district 6-6A softball as it comes down to the final night of the season as the Lady Panthers look to make back-to-back trips to the playoffs.

“I’m going to do everything in my power to help my team win this game so we can make playoffs and not have this be my last high school game,” senior Bella Konieczka said. “The second I step on that dirt, I have to be completely blind to what’s at stake and just focus on playing like I know how, like it’s any other game.”
