The football team rides a hot streak entering one of the most important games of the season. Varsity football plays Berkner varsity football on Sept. 13, at Tom Kimbrough Stadium. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and the “theme” of the game is “Red Out.” Students are encouraged to wear red in honor of Zachary Schrah, who passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) on April 2, 2009. Zachary’s death brought awareness to the tragedy of SCA and resulted in the football team installing two massive fans to the indoor practice facility. The organization, Living for Zachary, was created posthumously for Schrah. Although there are all of the district games left to play, it’s hard to say that there are more meaningful games to the student body. The football team was thrashed in last year’s homecoming game, falling to the Allen varsity football team, 56-0. Alumni and current students alike look forward to watching the game at Kimbrough and watching the football team perform.
