Gracie Gold’s Golden Sister

Gracie+Gold%E2%80%99s+Golden+Sister

Many people tend to confide themselves to little trinkets as good luck charms when in the midst of a time of need, or simply when they themselves have an indefinite urge for something good to happen that day. Good luck charms come in many shapes and forms, and a numerous amount of people embrace their own no matter what it may be. While everyday people have their lucky charms, it’s not surprise that unmistakably talented athletes have theirs, too.

Gracie Gold, an 18 year old Olympic figure skater who peaked out of Sochi this year with a bronze medal, has her good luck charm just as we all do. Hers just so happens to be her twin sister, Carly, who’s younger by approximately 40 minutes. Carly Gold, who just so happens to be a national level figure skater, shares an unbreakable bond with her twin sister as she roots and cheers for Gracie along the side lines of nearly every performance that Gracie has had.

“Speechless,” the younger Gold has tweeted after Gracie dazzled the judges at Sochi with an outstanding performance and landed herself a bronze medal, simultaneously earning her first U.S. national title as a professional Olympic athlete. Prior to many of her showing, Gracie confides in her twin sister, using their conversations to help shake off all of her nerves and frustrations as the younger twin was by her side to assure her, essentially serving as an aid to her older sister’s dreams.

“For Gracie, having someone she could talk to freely and whenever she wanted to was really helpful I think,” the younger Gold said. “It helped her get out some of her anxieties. With me, she doesn’t have to think about everything around her.”

Someone to be by her side was an absolute necessity for Gracie as she trekked up towards the route of the 2014 Olympics. Prior to the beginning of the Olympic season, Gracie performed at the U.S. nationals in order to qualify as a member of the U.S. Olympic figure skating team. When the nerves stocked up, Gracie went to her twin sister who would give her a pep talk filled with words of encouragement and empathy.

“I’m a confidante in a way, I guess,” Gracie’s twin said. “Someone she can just look to when she’s stressed.”

While Gracie and Carly share thoughts and words of encouragement with each other throughout their lives, they also share the same passion for figure skating. Carly, a figure skater at a national level is hoping to soon step up to her sister’s name as an Olympic figure skater in the near future for team U.S.A.

The Gold twins, with a unique and distinct bond, as sisters and best friends, that no one can break, prove to be an outstanding example of a pair of good luck charms as they support, and continue to support, each other endlessly.
