Organizers of Denton’s most prominent music festival, 35 Conferette (a.k.a NX35 and formerly 35 Denton), have officially began releasing the names of confirmed artists set to perform at the 4-day “walkable” event in March 2012 at Denton’s Downtown Square.
North Carolina-based folk indie trio The Mountain Goats, who wrote a song titled “The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton”, are promoted as the forefront headlining band so far. Noted as the secondary headlining garage band is Thee Oh Sees and Julianna Barwick, who performed at Dallas’s Gorilla Vs. Bear Festival in June. The rest of the lineup list contains oddly-named indie bands such as Sun Araw, Wet Hair, Terrible Twos, Natural Child, and Xray Eyeballs.
In the past years, 35 Conferette has brought The Flaming Lips, Local Natives, Mister Heavenly (who boast Scott Pilgrim actor Michael Cera as their touring bassist), and OutKast member Big Boi to the main stage.
Tens of thousands are expected to come. Tickets can be bought for $48.25 at the festival’s website, 35denton.com.
